CHECK IT OUT! The song MIGHTY JACKIE THE STRIKEOUT QUEEN which I co-wrote with my buddy Marla Lewis (www.marlalewis.com) is one of the five FINALISTS in the INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARDS!
WE NEED YOUR VOTE! Go to http://www.musiciansatlas.com/pages/IMAFinalist/ Go to the Children's Music category and you can listen to Mighty Jackie, the Strikeout Queen (as well as the other entries which are also very good). Jackie Mitchell was a seventeen year old pitcher with the minor league team Chattanooga Lookouts when, in a 1931 exhibition game against the New York Yankees, SHE!!! struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehring! Jackie was a that good. Marla sang and arranged the tune with Andrews Sisters-like vocals and wonderful horns. The song is available as an mp3 download on this site and on Marla's wonderful new CD-I Love to Talk To Plants (www.marlalewis.com). I highly recommend it-not just because I co-wrote two of the songs-but because it is Terrific! I know you'll agree. CHECK IT OUT!
